iPlay America transformed into Rangerstown on Sunday, June 30th with an appearance by seven members of the 1994 Stanley Cup-Championship team. New York Rangers fans from all over the tristate area and beyond celebrated the “Core Four” including former Captain Mark Messier, Defenseman Brian Leetch, Winger Adam Graves, and Goaltender Mike Richter. In addition, fans had the chance to attend a free pre-event meet and greet with notable players including Jeff Beukeboom, Alexei Kovalev, and Stephane Matteau.
With over 1,000+ guests in attendance, fans were able to relive and celebrate the championship that Blueshirt Nation has held near and dear to their hearts for 25 years. Everyone in attendance showed nothing but respect to the legendary hockey players who stepped foot in The Event Center @iPA to a standing ovation. During the event attendees experienced photo ops, autograph signings, and a one-hour Q&A session moderated by John Heffernan.
Messier, Leetch, Graves, and Richter all answered questions taken live from the audience members inside Warehouse 100. The ’94 legends touched on their experience working in the NHL, playing for their unforgettable victory, and life since taking home the Stanley Cup.
Considering the “Core Four” completed the 1993-1994 season with the top record in the NHL, we think hockey fans around the world would have loved to hear the advice given by some of the league’s most memorable players to come out of New York.

“I like the way the game is being played. I like the celebration. Our culture is that everything is the team first and the individual second. Any team that doesn’t have that is going to find themselves in a position where it’s going to be tough to win in my opinion, even in today’s game,” Messier exclaimed.
A silent auction also took place during the once-in-a-lifetime event benefiting the Mikey Strong charity. The items up for grabs included authentic jerseys each worn and autographed by the four guests of honor at the event. 100% of the proceeds were donated to Nichols Family Trust to provide for Mike Nichols’ medical needs and rehabilitation.

Mikey Nichols of Monroe, New Jersey suffered an injury during the best hockey game of his career, which left him paralyzed at just 17-years-old. Mikey vowed to never allow his wheelchair hold him back and he proved that while being a part of one of the biggest events in New York Rangers history right here at iPlay America.
