Let me start off by saying that iPlay America could be one of greatest places for an autograph signing. Let me explain:

As a family man, I don’t like to be away from my family for too many weekend days. When I looked into the iPlay America signing, this seemed pretty perfect. My wife and daughters could take the ride with me to iPlay America, and while I spend 90 minutes or so in line and at the signing, they could ride the rides ($22 per person for an unlimited ride bracelet…pretty awesome). Once the signing is over, re-join them, do some rides, and have lunch.

Once I got to iPlay America, I got in line with a friend of mine. I got the VIP deal, which includes front of the line access, photo with Dean, pre-signed 8X10, and he’ll sign one item for me. They let us inside, and Howard Finkel was hosting the event. He was doing some trivia with the kids, and generally working the crowd…helped make the time go a bit faster. At 11am, Howard introduced Dean to the crowd, to which Dean commented to the crowd that it was actually the first time Howard ever introduced him, and he thought that was pretty cool. Line moved pretty quickly, and eventually it was my turn. Dean signed my action figure, we took the picture, and that was it for the Dean signing.

After Dean, I walked over to talk to Howard Finkel. Funny story…back in January 2013, I got a tour of WWE HQ (through my work), and met Howard. Since then, I’ve seen him a few times (Wrestlemania 29, 30, Axxess, Legends of the Rings, etc), and every time welcomes me with a “Jeff, how are you doing?” Howard is such a legend, that it always catches me off guard that he even knows who I am. This time he greeted me with a big hug. Such a nice guy. Anyhow, we chatted for a few minutes, and took a picture, and I was off to hang out with my family.

Overall it was a very well run, well organized event. It’s a little over an hour from my house, but based on all of the reasons I mentioned, I hope they do a lot more signings there, as it’s pretty awesome.
