For immediate release, Friday, March 21, 2014.Freehold, N.J. – New York Rangers hockey alumni and fan favorites Ron Duguay and Nick Fotiu will appear at iPlay America on Monday, March 31, during a fund raiser to benefit Monroe, N.J., high school senior Michael “Mikey” Nichols 17, who suffered a fracture to his C5 vertebra during a high school ice hockey game January 4. Nichols, son of Christine and Steven Nichols, was treated at Morristown Medical Center and has since transferred to The Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.
“Mikey Nichols is a remarkable young man,” said Bob McDaid, founder and chief executive officer of iPlay America. “He is a shining example of courage in this community where he and I live.”
iPlay America will donate 100 percent of ticket-sale proceeds earned from 6 p.m. on to the Nichols family to help defray the costs of his rehabilitation. Guests who purchase tickets online in advance will receive a four-hour unlimited ride pass and a $10 game card – a $34 value – for $23. Nichols’ jersey number on the Monroe Falcon’s hockey team is 23. Those who purchase tickets on-site the day of the event will receive a four-hour unlimited ride pass and a $5 game card.
The Monroe Township Baseball Association will be on deck with a silent auction that will offer some spectacular items including a Demi Lovato signed guitar and a prize pack including 100 scratch off tickets, T-shirt, Katy Perry movie and CD, and a $10 iTunes card, donated by radio station B98.5; a full set of golf clubs from Bella Vista Country Club; and a very special Zendaya birthday party at iPlay America on Saturday, May 3, including 15 guests for an iParty Plus package and 15 general admission tickets to Zendaya’s concert with early admission.
Other items will include a variety of signed professional hockey, boxing and football memorabilia – generously donated by event co-sponsor Trinity Financial Sports and Entertainment Management Company, LLC – music, concert tickets, and many more.
“We want to maximize the funds we raise for Mikey with at least 1,500 people coming to iPlay America on Monday, March 31,” said Jessica Schwartz, director of marketing and promotions for iPlay America. “The more people who come and participate, the more money we raise for Mikey.”
